Call To Worship                               ÒBenedictusÓ                                       Alec Rowley

Greeting  (Based on 1 Peter 1: 1-4)

(L)  To GodÕs electÉ.Grace and peace be yours in abundance.

(R) Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ!  In His great

mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the

resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance

that can never perish, spoil or fade.

Announcements, Concerns, Joys & Opening Prayer

*Responsive Scripture (Based on Psalm 30: 4-5 and 10-12)

(L)  Sing to the Lord, you saints; praise GodÕs holy name.

(R) GodÕs anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime;

weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.

(L)  Hear O Lord, and be merciful to us; O Lord, be our help.

(R) You turn our wailing into dancing; you remove our sorrows and

clothe us with joy, that our hearts may sing to you and not be silent.

O Lord our God, we will give you thanks forever.

*Hymn                                       ÒCome, Sing to GodÓ               181  (vs. 1,2,4)

Come sing to God, O living saints, Sing praises to God's name.

God's anger is not permanent, God's love will never wane.

Though tears may tarry for the night With sighs of deepest pain,

Yet joy comes with the morning sun, A peace that is not vain.

In my success I felt secure. How good You've been to me.

I said that this is my own work, Ascribing all to me.

But when You turned aside Your face, My life was filled with fears.

I begged for help, to You I cried With loud and bitter tears.

You change my grief to joy-filled dance, My sorrows You destroy.

In faithfulness You hear my cry And fill my life with joy.

And so to You my heart shall sing, My voice Your goodness raise.

You are my God, forevermore, My life shall sing Your praise.

*Profession of Faith  (from ÒA Brief Statement of FaithÓ)

(L)  In life and death we belong to God. Through the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,

The love of God, And the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, we trust in the one

triune God, the Holy One of Israel, whom alone we worship and serve.

(R) We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign

of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives. He

taught in word and deed by blessing the children, healing the sick, binding

up the broken hearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all

to repent and believe the gospel. Unjustly condemned, Jesus was crucified,

suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the

world. God raised Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking

the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal.

(L)  In gratitude to God, empowered by the Spirit, we strive to serve Christ in our

daily tasks and to live holy and joyful lives, even as we watch for God's new

heaven and new earth, praying, Come, Lord Jesus!

(R) With believers in every time and place, we rejoice that nothing in life or in

death can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Glory

be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Prayer For Illumination  (Based on 1st Corinthians 9: 26-27)

Spirit of the Living God, open our hearts and minds to your word this day, that we may not run our race of faith aimlessly, nor fight like a man swinging at nothing but air, but rather may we run with purpose toward the goal, as you direct our steps.  Amen.

*Hymn                                  "Have Thine Own Way, LordÓ

(During the singing of ÒHave Thine Own Way, LordÓ, those who wish to be anointed with oil and have hands laid on them with prayer, please come forward.)

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!

Thou art the Potter, I am the clay.

Mold me and make me after Thy will,

While I am waiting, yielded and still.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Search me and try me, Master, today!
Whiter than snow, Lord, wash me just now,
As in Thy presence humbly I bow.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Wounded and weary, help me, I pray!

Power, all power, surely is Thine!
Touch me and heal me, Savior divine.

Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way!
Hold oÕer my being absolute sway!
Fill with Thy Spirit Õtill all shall see
Christ only, always, living in me.

*O My Soul Bless Your Redeemer

O my soul, bless your redeemer;  All within me bless GodÕs name;

Bless the Savior, and forget not  All GodÕs mercies to proclaim.

God for-gives all our transgressions,  All diseases gently heals;

God re-deems us from destruction,  And with us so kindly deals.

*Prayer of Thanksgiving, Intercession & The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name, thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power; and the glory, forever.  Amen.

*Hymn                                         "Be Thou My Vision"                                                339

Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;

Nought be all else to me, save that Thou art--

Thou my best thought, by day or by night,

Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Riches I heed not, nor vain, empty praise,

Thou mine inheritance, now and always:

Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,

Great God of heaven, my treasure Thou art.

Be Thou my wisdom, and Thou my true word;

I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;

Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,

Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

*Charge and Benediction

*Congregational Response   ÒLord, Dismiss Us With Thy BlessingÓ                (v. 1)

Lord, dismiss us with Thy blessing;  Fill our hearts with joy and peace;
