“Just Do Your Job”

Bill Belichick – “Just do your job”

''’Do Your Job,’ the ultimate Bill Belichick quote. This is the motto that he operates by, a simple theory that if implemented results in victory. Do Your Job! “

Paul’s Job (1st Corinthians 9)

Preach the Gospel, to Jews and Gentiles alike

(Traveling Evangelist)

“I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.” (1st Corinthians 9:22)

Jesus’ Job (Mark 1)

Preach the Gospel by driving out demons and healing

(Traveling Miracle Worker)

"Let us go somewhere else--to the nearby villages--so I can preach there also. That is why I have come." So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.

Peter’s Mother-in Law’s Job (Mark 1)

(Server of Refreshments)

“Simon's mother-in-law was in bed with a fever and they told Jesus about her. So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them” (Mark 30-31)

Rev. Paige Pritchard – “Her desire to serve came maybe not just because that was her role as a woman; it also came from a gratitude for Jesus’ work in her life.”

Not just her job (role in society), but her JOB!

(Role in the Kingdom)

Prof. Sarah Henrich-       “Simon Peter's mother-in-law "served" immediately after having been raised. The verb is diakoneo, the same verb Jesus uses to describe the essence of his own ministry in Mark 10:45. It is "to serve" rather than "to be served" that characterizes the Christ of God.”

Who of the three do you identify most with?

What’s your Kingdom JOB?

Paul - “It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, 12 to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” (Ephesians 4:11-12)

Paul – “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” (1st Corinthians 12:27)

We all have a Kingdom Job – What’s Yours?

All Kingdom Jobs are important

Doing them builds up the Church (Ephesians 4:12)

Doing them brings a blessing to us

Paul – “Yet when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, for I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel! If I preach voluntarily, I have a reward; if not voluntarily, I am simply discharging the trust committed to me.”

(1st Corinthians 9:16-17)
