Congregational Opportunities
The March OAK LEAVES are ready for pick up today. Please take yours and family members to save us from mailing them.
Ash Wednesday Service will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Communion will be by Intinction and there will be Imposition of Ashes. The choir will rehearse immediately following the service.
Community Lenten Luncheons begin this Friday, February 24, beginning at noon here in Rhoades Hall and continue each Friday during Lent. Theme for this year’s luncheons is “The Cloud of Witnesses”. This week Big Spring United Lutheran Church will be providing & serving the luncheon and their pastor Jean Kuebler will be delivering the message. The offerings this year will be divided in three ways – B. S. Inter-Church Council, Lend-A-Hand and Domestic Violence of Cumberland & Perry Counties.
Lenten Gatherings will take place each Tuesday during Lent at Zion Lutheran Church, beginning next Tuesday, February 28th with a light soup
meal from 6 – 6:30 p.m., followed by worship from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday, March 3rd from 6 – 8 p.m. here in Rhoades Hall the Girl Scout Council in the Newville Area is celebrating 100 years of Girl Scouting. All present and past Girl Scouts are encouraged to attend. Contact Lynette to RSVP or for more information at 580-7338 or lynettemc2@embarqmail.com
Our church will be preparing and serving the last Lenten Luncheon on March 30th. There are sign-up sheets in the entry way for donations of food or cash toward the meal and also helpers in the kitchen. We are also in need of persons to run the dishwasher for each week’s luncheons.
The Last Supper will take place in our sanctuary on Palm Sunday, April 1st at 7 p.m. Please invite your friends and family to attend this very meaningful presentation.
If you would like to donate snacks or drinks for our 1st Stop After School Program, please place them in the marked container in the hallway. Thank you.
Vinny & Nino Todaro are collecting items (cards, card games, travel sized games, DVD’s, DS games, board games, craft items, etc.) for the Pediatric Infusion Room at Hershey Medical Center where kids sit, sometimes for hours, while waiting for chemo. A marked box for your donations is in the hallway. Sunday, March 18th is the last day to bring items to the church.
